Bell Ringers
Class will begin each day with Bell Ringer Questions. You are required to complete these questions. Failure to do so breaks rule #2 and will result in consequences. These questions will be on chapter tests, and when completed and done correctly, can be very useful for success in this class.
Homework/Class work
History requires you to do some work on your own time, especially reading. Therefore, you will be assigned homework and/or class work on most days. Homework must be turned in the day after it is assigned, and you will receive a daily grade for this work. There will also be random quizzes on reading assignments.
Test and Projects
Tests will be given at the discretion of the teacher. Usually, this will be at the end of each chapter. Tests will count as 60% of your final grade. If you miss a test, you must make arrangements to retake the test. Upon your return from an excused absence, you will have 3 days to make up the test. Any projects assigned will also count as a test grade.
Grades
Grades will be calculated each week and entered in STI as quickly as possible. You will be able to check your grades from any internet capable computer with the use of your username and password. You can use the following grade computation sheet to track your progress.
40% Daily grades/Homework/Quizzes
60% Tests/Projects
Final grades for each semester will be assigned based on the following:
1st grading period
2nd grading period
Mid-Term* or Final*
The midterm and final will count 20% of your semester grade.
Your yearly grade will be determined by averaging your two semester grades.
*Exemption Policy: Students may exempt their mid-term or final examinations if they meet the following criteria:
3 absences or less and an A average
2 absences or less and a B average
1 absence or less and a C average
Attendance and Make-up Work
In accordance with the Student Handbook: Missed assignments are the responsibility of the student. You can get the assignment by simply asking me. If the absence is excused, then you will have 3 days to complete the make-up work. Failure to do so will result in a zero for those assignments.
