BUILDING LEADERSHIP TEAM (BLT)
 
In 2003 the faculty and staff of West Morgan High School underwent a S.A.C.’s review resulting in a school improvement plan. One part of that plan directed the school to establish a leadership team to implement the improvement plan.  That team has become known as the B.L.T. (Building Leadership Team).  It is the job of this group of teachers to (1) provide a method of problem-solving and communication and (2) oversee the N.S.S.E. School Improvement Plan.
 
To that end, we have established departments and department leaders.  Those department leaders serve on the B.L.T. as a representative voice for each department.  It is the vision of the B.L.T. that teachers will bring issues and ideas to the department leaders who, in turn, will share those ideas with the entire leadership team. The B.L.T. has established a regular meeting schedule (once each grading period) and invites any staff member to attend or send suggestions for discussion.  The B.L.T. also publishes an agenda prior to each meeting and minutes following each meeting so staff members are kept informed.  Both principals sit on the team as full members and have been the driving force behind the success of the B.L.T.
 
In addition, the B.L.T. must oversee the N.S.S.E. School Improvement Plan.  To this end, the team has organized and implemented in-service activities designed to focus on each of the parts of the action plan.   The B.L.T. will continue to focus its attention on the action plan in an attempt to meet S.A.C.’s standards.
