The Alabama College Application Campaign/Cash for College Week is scheduled for October 31-November 4, 2016. During this week many Alabama Colleges will waive college application fees.Mrs. Banks will be set up outside the Media Center during that week and will help seniors apply for college and register for the ACT.

Both the application for admission and the scholarship deadline must be met in order to receive a scholarship from these organizations.

2016 Torch Awards Scholarship

Applicants must be a junior or senior at a high school in Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan and Winston counties in North Alabama with a desire to continue his/her education. Students who entered as a junior but were not selected as a winner may enter again as a senior.

A selection committee comprised of business leaders will review all entries. Judges will select the scholarship recipients based on their overall personal integrity and character, their personal achievements, contributions to their communities and schools, and academic accomplishments. Decisions of the judges are final.

Scholarships of $1,000.00 will be awarded. The Scholarship Fund will determine the number of scholarships awarded.

Recipients of BBB Torch Awards scholarships will be asked to attend the BBB's Torch Awards Luncheon Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:30AM at the Jackson Center in Huntsville. The scholarship will be made payable to the college or university of which the student enrolls. Scholarships must be applied to student's college/university within 2 years of receiving the award. The scholarship must be applied toward school related expenses including: tuition, books, room and/or board or other related items.
